Who We Are
Swahili for 'Earth and Wood', Ardhi Na Mbao is a design, build & manufacturing firm committed to the development & use of rammed earth and mass timber technologies as its primary materials and through this mandate, work towards bridging Africa’s gap in appropriate, sustainable and affordable materials that can be leveraged in the promotion of green construction and affordable housing.
WHY MASS TIMBER ?
FASTER

Mass timber allows for modularity that decreases construction timeline by at least 25%.
LIGHTER
Mass timber buildings weigh approximately 1/5th of the weight compared to other concrete buildings, thus reducing the foundation size, inertial seismic forces, and embodied energy.
GREENER
Construction in mass timber reduces CO2 emissions by 30% as compared to concrete.
WHY RAMMED EARTH?
LOWER COST
Rammed earth is made from damp soil and thus readily available on site and if not, is affordable to purchase and transport to site.
DURABILITY
Rammed earth has excellent moisture and fire resistance properties .
ZERO WASTE
Unstabilsed earth is fully recyclable.
